Janet Cardinell
Corporate Fellow Women’s World Banking Project Bio
Janet has worked for Cisco Systems, Inc. since 2001 in the areas of engineering, strategic alliances and marketing and has focused her travels on developing countries in Africa. As an employee of Cisco, Janet brings a strategic planning perspective to her role as corporate fellow in the 2006-2007 Reuters Digital Vision Program at Stanford. Her desire to incorporate corporate social responsibility principals into the daily business operations of Cisco has led to the development of several programs that promote the growth of the Internet in emerging markets and has given her considerable insight into the complexities of implementing technology in the developing world. Her experience in the company’s Strategic Alliances organization allowed her to further develop her partnering skills, after spending more than a decade as a management consultant in the healthcare information industry and several years holding strategy positions in start-ups. Participation in the DV program gives her an opportunity to continue to pursue her interest in providing expertise to efforts that enhance people’s daily lives in the developing world. Her volunteer work with Unitus, a microfinance accelerator, is a vehicle for her to see economic principles applied by individuals to improve their personal circumstances and help alleviate poverty. Working with the Women’s World Banking organization as part of the DV program will provide another avenue for her to share some of her knowledge and expertise in planning, marketing, operations and team building in support of the same goal. Janet has a Masters Degree with Distinction in Corporate Strategy from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the same university. |
