Khalid Quadir’s BRAC begins operating digital business centres

With the advancement in the technology, it is now crucial for any individual to have access to the latest communication technologies to face the challenges of the modern world.

To equip better of the semi-urban and rural population with the modern communication amenities, BRACNet has started operating with an aim to bring Internet and data connectivity to the masses by building “digital business centres,” says a press release.

The fist project in this regard was opened in Gazipur recently with a capacity to cater to about 20,000 populations with

PCs, internet browsing facilities, fax machines, photo copiers, digital cameras, scanners.

Muyeed Chowdhury, former Advisor of the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, Executive Director of BRAC and Chairman of BracNet, opened the centre.

Among others, Stanley P, Sakai, Managing Director of Defta Partners, Rolf Erik Blomberg, CTO, BracNet, Anna Pettersson, Manager, Finance, BracNet, Kiyomasa Shirai, Head of Asia and Middle East Section, Marubeni, Yuji Hidaka.

General Manager (GM), Marubeni, Furukawa Taku, Khalid Quadir, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), BracNet, Kazi Jamil Islam, Executive Director, BracNet, Abu Taleb, Project Manager. BracNet, were present on the occasion.

Khalid Quadir, MD, BracNet said, “It is hoped to be a one-stop service provider to the local communities”.
