Speaker Bio:
Tony Fadell is vice president of Engineering for Apple’s iPod Division and is responsible for creating all generations of Apple’s iPod digital music device. In 1991, after eight weeks researching and designing the iPod product solution as a contractor, he was hired to create and lead the implementation team.

Previous to Apple, Tony was a cofounder, CTO, and director of engineering of the Mobile Computing Group at Philips Electronics. He architected the award-winning Velo and Nino, based on the Windows CE palm PC platform. He later became VP of business development for Philips U.S. Strategy and Ventures.

Prior to joining Philips in 1995, Tony was a hardware and software architect at General Magic working with Sony, Philips, Matsushita, Toshiba, and other CE firms to develop a line of personal handheld communicators. Currently Tony is a named advisor to several Silicon Valley startups to help them craft their business, technical, and product strategies.

Tony graduated with a BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1991, and won the College of Engineering’s “Recent Alumnus of the Year” award in 2004.
